Default Restoring 31 running boards

I am about to get started restoring a set of 31 running boards. They have a large amount of the original rubber coating on them. Do you think I will be able to get that off a commercial sand blaster or will I need to use a chemical stripper on it? Thanks.

i dont think a sandblaster will work
i would try electrolysis if you have a tank
i found it caused the rubber to break down rapidly

Sandblasters do very poorly on rubber and thick paint.

How about using a sharp wood chisel to peel it off?

gas works good to soften it and then peel it out

A heated scraper or wide chisel works well on hard old rubber. Heat it with a torch, doesn't have to be real hot and use good welders gloves and it should be like a knife through butter.
