Default Lesson Relearned: Don't Assume the Worst

The blower in my '40 hot water heater recently quit working. There was power at the switch (the indicator light worked), but no blower in any of the four positions. Assuming the worst, I immediately concluded that the motor was the culprit, and had visions of removing the heater, disassembling it, and sending the motor out to be rebuilt (hopefully). I was then reminded that most problems have a simple explanation, and decided to check everything one more time. Crawled back under the dash (feet over seat back, blood rushing to head, etc.), and in retracing the wiring found the ground wire had worked loose. Reattached it, and VIOLA!--everything works again. Once again, turns out the glass was half full, rather than half empty.

when problems occur, but before I endeavor to find the problem, I look in the mirror and point my finger at that guy in the mirror and say -KISS- keep it simple stupid, and guess what it generally is the easy solution

One time I replaced a fuel pump. Found out the car was just out of gas.
Duh!
