Default Ford t5 adapter

Morning guys. I am looking for a ford t5 to late model flathead adapter like the ones Mark Kirby (motorcity flathead) used to sell. It is a plate about 1.25 inches thick, not the ones Speedway sells which are for S-10 trans. Any Ideas who may still sell these?? Thanks in advance... Doug

You couldn't get a Ford T5 adapter for a long time, I checked everywhere, so I had to make my own. However, recently I ran across an ad for one. If you don't find a source repost and I will find were I saw them.

Thanks for all the help on this adapter but it appears that the adapter plate is no longer produced by Cornhuskers, Shadow rods or Speedway. I have checked and what there is available is adapters to attach the partial bellhousing (truck) or a complete kit. Speedway sells a complete bellhousing but it is almost $600.00. I think I paid 75 bucks a few years ago. Everything is for the S-10 which has terrible gear ratios.

Considering how simple an adapter it iz, I'm surprised some Chinaman hasn't flooded the market with them. I started using 1" aluminum plate, but it was quite expensive for just a few of then. The local foundry closed up a few years back or blanks could be cast. A fixture can be made from a bad case. Vern Tardel also made them.

Per the Model Engineering web site its less than 300 bucks for the adapter that uses a hogs head partial bell housing if you have an 8ba or direct bolt on to a 59ab block. Good quality product and great people to deal with. IMO.

You can buy surplus drops of aluminum online from many distributors. Machined mine out on a 14" southbend lathe to use with a hogs head

Ive also picked up used bellhousing adapters at swapmeets for flathead to chevy with a ford fork. Last one was new at the last spring carlise for $150 . Right place at the right time . That adapter has been on the market for along time.

The truble is finding a Hogs head of the right kind, The simple adapter plate that Vern Tardel made and I copied was for a Ford T-5 and a stock 48-53 bell. Richard has one in his car and Mine will go into the roadster, if I live long enough. If I were a littler younget I'd produce them. The reason Corn husker dozent make them is because there's mot much profit in a 75 dollar part. Time for a picture.

I haven't had any problem finding the hogsheads, might if people started wanting them in large numbers. I currently have three, but one is broken. Picked two of them up off of ebay. The adapter plate is fairly simple to machine. I use the early ford front transmission retainer as it centers in the hogshead and provides the race for the throwout bearing. The ford T5 front retainer will slide inside of the early ford retainer (with some honing to the inside of the early retainer). This assures that the T5 is aligned properly. Once the plate is machined it is easy to just use the Hogshead, T5 and Front retainers to mark the mounting holes. Simple setup and uses mostly original ford parts.

I haven't been able to find a Hogs head like that and have Walt Dupont looking for one. Would you care to sell on so I can adapt to an early block??

Looks allot like the one for a passenger car bell housing. You should make them too. There's allot more passenger car bell housings than Hogs heads. Everybody with 49-53 Fords will want them

JSeery, what is the thickness of the aluminum adapter plate? I have read 1" and 1-1/2" but want to verify.
