Paul Shinn just posted a video on YouTube about this very thing. I haven't watched it yet so I don't know the results. The link is below.

Paul Shin just did a 1/4 mile run using a GPS app on his phone. I tried to download the app he used without success.

Somebody makes a recalibrated speedometer face in furlongs per fortnight.

I love it!
The reason I built up a fresh engine with a Lion III head, cam, header, and downdraft was to keep up with traffic. I wondered what the 0-60 and 1/4 miles times were but never did a real measurement. I finally added a supercharger but have still never timed it.
What App was Paul Shinn using? I didn't notice in the YouTube, when I was watching, it kind of skipped past that.
Of course, all 0-60 and 1/4 mile times need to add 93 years to the front of them.

Not a drag race but a funny story. Back in about 1960 I took a nice Model A Town Sedan in trade on a 49 Meteor (Canadian Ford), replaced a broken piston with a used one, and sold it to a friend for $100. He came back in a few weeks and said, Did you knw that Model A will do 60 mph. I said "I don't believe that, where did you discover that it would do that?".
He said I threw it in neutral at the top of "Devil's Back Hill" and let her go. At the bottom of the hill the speedometer was bouncing on 60. Pretty brave/foolish but it was something for a teenager to brag about.

There are a few apps that will do time/speed/distance. Use you app finder for your Android or iPhone.

I had a Model T Board Track racer that ran at the first 18 Monterey Historics. The owners wife diligently stood at the pit wall and timed her husbands every lap. Each time he went by she turned the hour glass over and made a check mark on her clipboard. That was the era when Monterey was a fun event - today it's too crowded and serious.

ModelA29 I agree with you on Montery Historics. It used to be a lot of fun, we ran there
for years until it got to be no fun anymore, its gotten expensive and for little run time.
But on to the Model A 1/4 mile, I think Tom Cahill did a drive test on a Model A and ran
a 1/4 mile, it think he said it when 50mph at the end of a 1/4, at the end of a 1/2 mile
at the end of a mile and at the end of the day still 50mph......

I wouldn't bother with a stop watch. A calendar will do!

I know the guy that makes the clocks they use at Bonneville They go from zero to infinity so should work fine for model A's. Only thing is, for model A's you would have to have a commercial power source or the batteries would go dead.
