Gordon, it would be nice to see you again.

30cc: That is a great website, perhaps you could coordinate with Brent to provide a seminar or two about those things you have some experience with. It would be a great addition to his proposed event.

I'm going to the national meet in Sept, vacation time and funds already spoken for, but I would have loved to have seen, sheet metal work, wood work.

In the new shop too, nice!

Yes, I'd like to attend and participate. I'm certainly not up to instructing but would like to get hands on experience on the drive train. I'd like to install a Mitchell some day and in the process do my clutch, transmission and rear end. (at least change one or both axles)
Thank you - I hope it will work out.

Great offer, Brent!
I have two suggestions.
1) Brake drum replacement.
2) Installing patch panels.

Consider a class on the basics of metal shaping. I think that you have most of the equipment, and have some experienced guys as well.

If you are estimating attendance, you can count me in. I will probably bring a fender or two to work on.

Also, I think that there should be some way of donating money. You have to pay your staff salaries for 3 or 4 days and they are not making money for you during that time. It must cost you more than several thousand dollars.

Just as an offer of an opinion, I have hosted several events like this, where a donation 'box' is made available, but a lot of folks don't understand the actual costs involved in putting one of these events on. There is always a preparation time of more than a week where employees spend various amounts of time moving, sweeping and re-arranging of various tools and equipment. Then there is the actual event where employees contribute little or nothing to the shops productivity, followed by several days of cleanup and re-organizing.

It has been my experience after (8) of this style of event that the organizer can expect to pay around $40 per day per person just for food, beverages and loss of shop expendables. NOT included are assorted broken or damaged or mis-placed tools, lost shop productivity, etc. However, I have found it to be a huge learning experience and fun for both the host and the attendees. In the past, I have paid to attend some metal shaping style seminars where the tuition was always more than $300 per person per day. If Brent puts this event on it would be unkind to take advantage of him in any way that makes it cost prohibitive for him to continue with this style of event. I have attended past events that were 'produced' by Brent and can attest to his attention to detail and concern for his attendees. I hope he decides to host an event like this.
