Tinnertman Nuts
Are the Tinnertman Nuts really necessary for anchoring the brake drums? I found they are not installed on my brake drums. In the past I always replaced them when I pulled the drums. They just don't look like they are needed.

Re: Tinnertman Nuts
I think they were only put on there on the assembly line to keep the drums from falling off until the wheels were mounted.
I agree with you, they aren't needed now. Terry |

The frame is assembled up side down, then turned before body drop. The nuts were to prevent the drums from falling off at that point.

Re: Tinnertman Nuts
You don't need them unless you plan on rolling the car over on it's side with the wheels off.

Re: Tinnertman Nuts
I always took them off and tossed them. I've never seen anyone put them back on and they are tough to get off in 1 piece.
