31 Std. Roadster Wiper Motor
I bought an original model vacuum wiper motor a few years ago for the 31 Std. Roadster that I am restoring. Pretty well finished except for installing a new Classtique top kit. Not sure, but it looks to me that the wiper shaft on the motor is going to be very close to the top fabric when it comes from the center bow down to the front header bow over the windshield. Is this normal or do I have to adjust/modify the wiper motor brackets (repro) or the front header (original?) ?

Re: 31 Std. Roadster Wiper Motor
The MAFCA Wiper pdf lists the TR 01B for use on the 1930/31 standard roadsters since it is the more plain jane version of the type (not chrome plated). If you google the PDF, the photos will confirm the type. They mount on the inside with the flat top facing up so there isn't a lot of clearance for it when the header bow is brought down to engage the windshield stanchions. The outer wind flap for the top should have a small cut out to help clear the wiper arm and shaft. I've noticed that a lot of tops don't have a wind flap so I suppose it depends on who makes the top.

Hello, this is a Deluxe top but picture shows the flap you mentioned, flap would be similar but in black cross grain , and of course the top bow is different.

Not sure about the classtique top kits but the old LB kits has the proper cutout for the shaft. I would install the top and see if any modifications are needed.

Hello again, that flap does cut down on wind slightly when fastened to windshield, forgot to snap it down , and wondered why it was noiser than usual.
