Default 10 " long PP

Has anybody solved this problem. Please see the pictures below. This is with the PP is just bolted on the flywheel. The throwout bearing is about 1/2" away. Jim T.

I have discussed this with Fort Wayne Clutch because I have had the same problem with my T5 kits in the last couple years. I have not changed any parts in over 25 years. My theory is that the fingers on the new reproduction pressure plates are to flat without the proper upward angle required for throw out bearing contact. Plus they don't have the adjuster bolts in the fingers anymore. With my kit I have always recommend 3/16th to 1/4 inch free play. They have not been very responsive to my theory?

Thanks for the reply. I talked to Mike at Third Generation and he tells me it"s in the linkage, well I'm not the brightest star in the sky but those fingers must be up close to the frame, that would put them in the ball park. The problem is I think if there is a way to do that on this unit it would be decreasing the static pressure. So hear I stand. I am determined to solve but I am limited in the technical part . Is there any way I can find out the static pressure for this PP ? Jim T.

The three fingers appear close to being correct. As the clutch wears and becomes thinner the fingers will become closer to the frame of the pressure plate. May have a problem with the throw-out hub or bearing???

Are all three of the hex head bolts that attach the stamped PP frame to the PP casting tight against the stamped medal frame? From one of your photos one of the bolts appears loose with space between the bolt head and the stamper PP frame.

What is the distance from the top of the finger to the top of the pressure plate? The Ford Service Manual shows 15/16" for a 10" clutch.

I had a few PMs that asked the same question to me/ I've always used the 91/2 late long PP, and since the late 50's never used the 1 3/8 transmission . Drag racing with the olds engine wouls destroy then in an instant. Today I use the T-5or t170 and alot of autos as well. I see to pulpous in using the early trans unless your restoring a stock drive train.

That's with disc in and everything tight.

Hi Pete what is the 10" PP on ? This one is on a 8 BA (flat fly wheel). I think the 10 " PP is setup for a 59 AB.

Hi Gramps I'm building a pre war Hot Rod, it's a 27 roadster on a 28 chassis, 37 rear, 32 cross member, 39 trans. 4 in. 28 axle. You know the drill. NUT N FANCY. I'm wondering what setup was used in the pickups with the 3 speed trans. behind a 8BA.
