floor mat w/o holes
Does anyone know of a source for front floor mat without the shifter hole already cut? I have the F-Ford overdrive tranny in my '31 so the shifter is about 1 1/2" further back than stock. Would love to find a supplier that allows for me to cut my own hole in the proper location for this installation.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
since you are not worried about originality, I would search out a local upholesterer and have them order material and finish carpet.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
A last resort alternative is to VERY CAREFULLY cut a half moon shape from the back side of the existing Shift hole, then using rubber glue , glue the half moon back into the front side of the hole. Works for me. I have done the same thing to Carpet with the F150 tranny.

Ken:
I fixed my floor mat the same way when I put in the F150 trans. Also did the same for the emergency brake. Works great. I glued a thin piece of rubber below the seams to make it stronger.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
Anyone know the 'source' of these mats? I wonder if there are enough of us E28 guys to warrant them making a run of the correct (pyramid style) mats w/o any brake handle holes (start-mid '28)?

Re: floor mat w/o holes
tudor standard. I have done the cut/glue method on my existing. It's getting a little "long in the tooth" and so I thought I would replace if I could get new w/o the hole. Have considered going with carpet and may pursue that route.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
Guys, I have had a standing request in with Tom Snyder for about a year trying to get a rubber floor mat without the holes cut for the shifter and e-brake. He told me last March '12 that he was the manufacturer and that the next time he did a run of floor mats he would hold a few out. Here is his note:
Albert, We are the manufacturer of the mats. We would have to wait for the next run of mats to pull some out before they went into the cut die. By the looks of our present inventory, it will be late summer until we will have another run made. Thank you! Tom J. Unfortunity, I checked with him this summer (2013) and they still hadn't done a run of floor mats. Maybe if a few more people called him and requested the uncut mats, he would try harder to get these special mats done.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
We are in the process of having a run of our own floor mats made. I just got off the phone with the factory and they are willing to make some 30-31 floor mats for me with out the holes for the gear shift lever or the emergency brake cut out. Right now I told the factory to only make 5 but if there is a bigger demmand I can have more of them run. Just give us a call and talk to Jeff. If we get a bunch of requests in the next couple of days we might be able to add more to the run.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
Mr. Bratton: any chance of getting a small run of the VE/E28 style (pyramid pattern, parking brake to left - not in the mat area)? Am confident we 'early' guys would be appreciative.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
I would be interested in the '28 mat with the brake to the left as well. I am working on a '28 AA with a dual high.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
I could use the same for my early 29 AA.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
A new run of the late style A-2005 (brake to right) floor mats is being ran now. We are expecting them the first of December. We will have some untrimmed mats available at that time. Don Snyder

Re: floor mat w/o holes
Don, what do you mean by untrimmed. I would like a complete mat but only missing the e-brake and transmission tower cutouts.

Re: floor mat w/o holes
It would be the complete floor mat as molded. This means you would have to put all of the holes in it. The trimming die we have is one large steel rule die that comes down and trims the entire mat in one hit. There is no way of deleting only the gear shift lever and brake hole in the center. Sorry but that's the best I can do with my tooling.
