1932 Ford Hudson steering box
Last week I ran a wanted ad on Ford Barn searching for a 1937 Hudson Gemmer steering box . Yesterday got a call from a person claiming to have one that had belonged to his father who had 4 Hudson automobiles and had just passed away from Covid . Long story short he was disposing of his fathers estate and had a steering box . He was either going to throw it away or sell it . So I told him I would give him $500 for it but again he said he would sell or throw it away but no reply to my offer and this went on for quite awhile . Finally I said send me a picture of what you have so I can make a final offer . He said his phone would not send pictures and he would get one that could . After 4 calls from him wanting to sell he never replied with pictures , buyer beware !

Re: 1932 Ford Hudson steering box
I got the Hudson steering box for my 32 pickup from Neal Jennings, NealinCa on here. He rebuilds them and modifies them so they are a bolt in for a 32 Ford. They are pricey but they work really good.

Re: 1932 Ford Hudson steering box
The 37 Hudson steering box was only used in 37. The 47 Chevy pick up box was used thru 64 I think. It is basically the same as a 64 Impala box. It is recirculating like a Vega but many times stronger and side steer. They look exactly the same as a F100 or Hudson to me. They are also practically free.

Forgot, the Hudson box also accepts the 32-34 pit-man arm. Neal is producing new Hudson boxes that are also a bolt in for the 32 Ford.

Re: 1932 Ford Hudson steering box
Borgeson produces a side steer box similar to the Chevy pu box.

Re: 1932 Ford Hudson steering box
Here are some pics. They are a much much better box than the F-1, F100, Hudson.

Re: 1932 Ford Hudson steering box
Thanks, Andy. Do you know if a Ford pitman fits on the sector? It looks like mounting pad can be modified to fit a ford frame as well.

Re: 1932 Ford Hudson steering box
Here are some pics of the 55-59 Chevy pickup box that I found on the web. I have a friend that has one in a Model A roadster and loves it.
Not sure how the column tube is attached. That may need some work. The Gemmer boxes are a natural fit in old Fords, as the parts all interchange, allowing for use of the lightswitch/horn rod, etc. Neal |
