Jadson valves
Rebuilding a Riley 4 port head and the valves are Jadson F1058. Riley literature says the valves are 1/8 inch oversize Model A with the mushroom style stem. I can not find any or even any cross reference listing for these. Not interested in a modern type valve at this time so can any one help with a reference to a replacement valve or part number.

Re: Jadson valves
If you want an original type valve your going to have to have it made.
Or get interested in a modern type set up. The modern ones are $10-$15 each and the original type are going to be $80-$100 each. My 2 cents. |

Re: Jadson valves
Jadson is an old name, probably un-attainable. The 1941 Ford 6 cyl had exhaust valves 1/8" bigger than stock, only 1941. You might try Egge Machine as a source.

Re: Jadson valves
I looked at the 41 valves. They are 1/2 inch to short. I did find another number and name on one of mine. Thompson S801. Good thing Hershey is in a few weeks.

Re: Jadson valves
An adjustable tappet can be lengthened by using a bolt in place of the adjuster, and double-nuts to lock them in place. I use modern valves and guides in my 4-port, nobody can see them when it is all assembled.

Re: Jadson valves
Thanks Jim, on another subject did you convert to top oiling for the rockers or stay with the felt pad? This is for a cast iron head 1935.

Re: Jadson valves
Mine is a '36. I did convert but if I were to do it again, I would not. I ran a 2-port for several years with the pads and never had a wear problem. 2-ports were easier to oil as they had holes in the covers to squirt thru. My 2-port had been converted to adjustable rocker arms, so the guides were eliminated. The 4-port has worn the push rod guide bushings in the head.

Re: Jadson valves
Thanks Jim, I was thinking of staying with just the pads, your answer helped me a lot.
