31 pickup shackles?
Guys, please school me on shackle changing, I have front spreader, a full length rear spreader, new bulldog shackles and bushings. Jack up front end with floor jack, jack stands under frame, remove center floor jack, spread spring until shackles can be removed. Check fit/and or replace bushings. Same on rear, will be doing one side at a time.
Am I missing something? Thanks |

Re: 31 pickup shackles?
Yes. That's how I would do it also. It may be difficult to drive out the old shackle bushings from the springs with springs still bolted to the center crossmember, so removing the springs from the frame and driving the old bushings out with spring on floor/blocks, etc. might make the job go better. But if you can figure out a way to remove the old bushings with spring still bolted to the crossmembers, then fine.
