Carter Model B&B carburetor help
Folks,
I have a local person with a 1935 Dodge pickup. He needs the Carter Model B&B carburetor rebuilt. I can handle the rebuild, although I am not familiar with this carburetor. I have some questions about what I believe are missing parts. Is there anyone here that can steer me in the direction of someone I can speak with? I'd like to help the guy out with the carburetor. Thanks, Seth |

Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
Seth,
Maybe try Carbco in south St. Louis. 314-544-3020. They’ve helped me with parts and rebuilds in the past. Good luck. Bruce |

Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
I don't have any specific help to offer, but I do have a suggestion. Do you know anyone with an old Motor's Manual that covers the era? If yes, it probably has a section on that carburetor.

Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
Wolf Enterprises in San Antonio FL is another option. I sent a 1935 Holley Card to him on a Monday by UPS and got t back looking and running like new the next Monday. I paid for the 'service' on Ebay and sent it off. Grant Young is his name and is a great asset and fine re-builder if you asked me from my experience. Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
Mike's Carburetor lists several carb kits for the Carter BB,
www.carburetor-parts.com There are also picturs of the carb and pictures of the parts on a parts list. Also, I don't think the BB has metering rods, so no special tools should be needed. Sal Last edited by scicala; 12-19-2023 at 12:16 PM. |

Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
The early B&B did not have the raised rib above the fuel bowl.

Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
It has a strange accelerator pump. It does not seem to employ a leather cup. It has a big brass plunger with a seperate internal plunger with a needle inside the big brass plunger. It's seems odd to me.

Re: Carter Model B&B carburetor help
I did go to that site and printed off some of the exploded views and the manual. I'll dig into this more later this week when I have time. Thanks for all the help on this!
