Default Photobucket now charges to host pictures

I used to use photobucket.com to host pictures to post to this website. Well now they charge $400/year for their service instead of free. Well from now on I'll use the free fordbarn posting service or flickr.com which is still free.

Why should you care? Well all the pictures I've posted or anyone else has posted from photobucket over the years to fordbarn are now gone from fordbarn. Apparently pictures will now be hosted free for just one day which I found out today when I pulled up a posting from yesterday!

This is what you get when you try to use photobucket now for free:

photobucket is full of advertising and it's annoying to me. Now they want you to pay to read all their ads they are getting paid to list. Sounds like cable TV, it used to be commercial free and worth paying for. Now we pay to view the ads. SMH!

This first came out about 2 weeks ago:

There have been many warnings given starting years ago that this could happen, yet posters either apparently never saw them, chose to ignore the advice or didn't believe it would ever happen. And it can happen just as easily with any hosting service just as easily as it did with Photobucket.

The sad part is how thousands of threads on dozens of websites have been rendered virtually useless without pictures as well as all the time people are going to waste after doing searches and viewing these threads.

Load them into Fordbarn and they'll most likely be around as long as the Fordbarn thread itself is.

When loaded into Fordbarn your pictures are essentially hosted there and if you want to post full size as well as thumbnails it is easily done. I intend to check with Ryan to see if there is any limit to the amount of this storage and will report back.
