Default SBC/8ba distributors

Guys,
In the last week I've received many inquiries regarding SBC to 8ba
distributors. I build these gems twice a year...next batch in January '15.
If interested let me know and I'll get you on the list, no deposit no big
deal just so I have an idea.
To be clear I build a good distributor but I'm not Jim Lindner, I
freely tell you when I have an ignition issue I go straight to Jim. Thanks
to him these issues are now pretty much totally resolved.
Gracias amigos,
Charlie ny

His contact info is in the EF Club's roster as Charles Schwendler in Orchard Park NY. I don't post phone numbers without the permission of the individual.

Charlie,

Do you know if there is any difference in converting a Mallory YL series distributor for a SBC rather than a stock SBC? The reason I ask is that Mallory makes a crab-style cap for the YL and I just think they look neater.

The major difference is the size of the cap.
Have converted one from a Unilite made for Chev. and also one from a Mopar Unilite see here---

Oldog,
Among other Flathead mechanical activities.....I do convert sbc dists to 8ba.
Transmissions, banjo rears, carbs, dists and custom machine work etc blah blah blah
occupy my work days

Tubman,
I love those crab cap Mallorys....I sold two sbc crab cap Mallorys converted
to 8ba at Hershey. I grab these when I find them because they are soooo different.
Both of these had mech tach drives. One went to Sweden and one stayed state-
side. Once I convert them they go directly to Bubba for setup and that documenta-
tion stays with them. Converting these type dist is essentially the same as a conven-
tional Delco sbc dist, a couple little nit picky things which you have to keep in mind
but no big deal.

Pete,
Single set of points....tunable without removing from the motor....5000
rpm with no breakup ( the spark is still willing but the motor is out of breath ) what's
not to love ?

I've heard & read many recommendations for Charlie. Spoke with him about a sbc distributor conversion for my Dads 53 Victoria. Put a check in the mail after our talk- looking forward to seeing the improvement in drivability, performance & fuel efficiency with a new dizzy that Charlie's worked his magic on. Will let ya know.

I've got a carb from Charlie and a Chevy Dizzy from Bubba. Both good guys to deal with and quality stuff.
