1954-1956 Wheel Question
Hi,
Was all the wheel widths the same thru these years? 5" or 5.5" wide? Was the 55-57 thunder bird the same? Thanks |

Re: 1954-1956 Wheel Question
Hi KULTULZ,
Wow as always you come thru with the facts. I was curious as to what wheel the one we have that they made a clone out of. It is date coded 54, was curious if they made a 5.5" width in 54. Thanks for all your help. Steve |

Re: 1954-1956 Wheel Question
I hope you could make the chart out, my browser has a problem with sizing.
If you do come across a C1AZ 1007-A, inspect the devil on it as there are thieves out there. Let us know. |

Re: 1954-1956 Wheel Question
Hi KULTULZ,
I tried to enlarge it but it blurred so I took a magnify glass and could see it. My brain always wonders (you know useless information) what this 5.5" would have been off of. If I can see the chart it doesn't list a 5.5" wide by 15". Once we looked at the wheel close and found the 54 date code we also noticed it doesn't have the recessed (bead lock on the outer bead area also. BIG 10-4 on people passing off clones. Thanks again |

Can you attach a larger photo of wheels sizes. Too small for tired eyes.

Re: 1954-1956 Wheel Question
Kultz, where did you find that chart for wheel size? I'd like to find one for my 1957 Skyliner. Have been playing around with the thought of putting Cragars on my car, but have heard comments that they won't work on my car.

Re: 1954-1956 Wheel Question
The information from Kultulz is from the 1949-1959 parts manual that was printed in 1964. It does not have information on some parts that Ford removed as obsolete when that edition was printed. To get the correct information on those parts, you need to have the books that date back to 1954-1955-1956-1957 etc. You will notice that his wheel chart does not show a wheel for the 51A vehicle (Retractable Skyliner). Those wheels were the same as the 9 passenger S/W. They were different from the other passenger car wheels as the center of the wheel is solid and not slotted. This is the same style as the Thunderbird, but the Thunderbird had a different width. To really answer your questsion, you would need to find a Chassis Parts book from 1954.
