Default v8-60 Head warp question

I have a set of Edlbrock aluminum to put on heads for my 60. I noticed that one of the heads, rocks slightly when sitting on he block. Can I assume that the head will pull down tight and seal with the gasket properly whemn torqued?

I know the aluminum heads are rather soft and flexible...

I have no experience here....

I would have it surfaced.

I have heard that it may be possible to straighten heads.
Bolt two together and heat slowly, cool slowly.
May work to bolt an aluminum head to a cast iron head to do this.
Then surface them.

Before I did anything, I would get a good steel straight edge and figure out exactly where I was. I had an 8BA with combustion chamber volumes that increased in size front to rear. After a bunch of checking and measuring, it turned out that the block had been decked at an angle some time in the past. Also, before you just go out and have the head surfaced, you should be checking to see if you will have proper clearance over the pistons and valves. On stuff that has been around for this long, it's a good idea to know exactly where you are before you start modifying parts.

Also check the length of the lower studs on the block. While refitting aluminum heads to a "new" 60 block, we found that those studs were not long enough to give sufficient length for the nut. They were shorter than the other studs and would have been very difficult to remove. We then resurfaced around the top surface of the lower stud holes in the heads so to get full thread contact with the nuts. Not sure if this was true with all 60s.
