Default New england meet September 18 to 20

Looking at Web page not a lot of itinerary details there. Couple of questions if anyone knows what is typical number of vendors at a regional meet, especially if you have attended a NE meet in the past? Busy weekend but trying to decide whether to make some time to fit this in.

Hate to say but with Hershey a few weeks away, not sure it makes sense if 4 or 5 guys represent the vendors...

Thanks, appreciate any information!
Thanks, Steve

I'll third that request. I've never been to a national meet and would love to better understand what goes on at the event (and if there is any type of swap meet).

There ususally isn't a whole lot of vendors at the New England Meet. Usually it's a handful of the attendees who set up tables with their excess stuff to sell. You can't just walk in and participate. You have to register for the meet to take part in the events. Saturday morning is the when the Tour is held. The participants leave the hotel parking lot and go on a about a 30 mile tour (varies from year to year) and end up at a locale where the cars all park on a field by class. Peer judging then takes place (everyone gets to vote on their favorites). The locale usually is a place where there is something interesting to see. Saturday evening is the grand banquet, where there is a dinner, entertainment and dancing.

The NEM is more of a social gathering than what you would see in a National MARC or MAFCA meet, where there are more Technical seminars and vendors. I've haven't missed a NEM since 1999. It's a wonderful event.

I brought this to the attention of one of the guys on the nemeet committe, and he said he would look into it, but it never happen. I can tell you that friday night is a social, saturday morning is a tour to the Pequot museum, where the peer judging will take place, saturday after noon is the Hubbly model car derby, saturday night is the banquet and dancing, sunday morning is the breakfast, awards, and raffel.

Thanks all - 2many cars that is helpful. In interest of full disclosure I was a CMARC member for a few years, then ventured into some non-Model A cars. Good guys, and I need to rejoin, but I know this is a big lift for whoever is organizing this time around. Like many clubs putting something like this on is a lot of work, and it usually falls on a few...

I think the nature of these things whether it is Model A, Packard or Mercedes related (clubs we have been active with over years) is these sort of meets tend to be very social and tour oriented, which is great if you can commit to the weekend, ideally staying with the group. Our one shot would be Sat AM and cars won't be there, so I am passing on it.

Thanks,

Steve

It is not really a public event anyway. It is primarily for registered participants. It is not a show, it is a meet, a convention. The meet is not advertised except within the clubs that participate. The public is neither informed nor welcomed. Anyone who will register and pay the fees and the meal prices is welcome, with or without their model A, but the public wandering in and looking around is not encouraged.

Thanks, understand that but would think any MARC member would be welcome even if just dropping in, but I get it is not geared for that. PAC & CCCA operate similarly, but welcome local members who are not necessarily staying for the meet. Maybe that's why they didn't feel the need to publish an itinerary. Still better publicity might help members make a decision on attending? Anyway thanks again for the info.

My wife and I are attending from the Philly area, staying with my daughter who doesn't live too far away from Mystic. The area is lovely and we like the lower key events like this. I had asked about a schedule earlier, and got a nice email response from CMARC, but not a whole lot of information. Looking forward to it though.

Anybody who would just like to see the cars would get the best chance at the Mohegan Pequot Museum. The cars should be there from noon to about 2pm.
