Transmission Main Shaft
Hi,
I am thinking that the transmission main shaft in my 1930 coupe has the fixed front bearing spacer and should not get the "key ring". Correct? Thanks, Jerry |

Re: Transmission Main Shaft
yes, that is correct, you have an early main shaft. Do not put the later "key ring" spacer on it as it will jam the transmission.
You might want think about replacing the front slider as it looks to be in poor condition. Tom Endy |

Re: Transmission Main Shaft
Yes, it looks pretty bad. Also check the nose end of the input shaft to see if it is grooved. Slide a new pilot bearing on it and see if there is a lot of wiggle. It can be repaired by machining down and pressing a sleeve over it.
