Default carb questions

Hi All,

I just bought a Marvel Schebler carb as an experiment to see how it would run on my car vs. the Zenith. Well I took it apart and started cleaning it up yesterday and realized she is in really pretty good shape. the main jet cleaned up really nicely on the wheel but how do I clean the inside out of the jet out? I know it is .113 but I can see some crud from 50 yrs of gas in it. Soak it/ scrub it?

I also measured the throttle valve shaft and where the wear is she measured .276 if I remember right and .278 on the non wear spot. Is that worth dealing with?

Mike

Soak it in carb cleaner and then blow it out with compressed air.

I run a Marvel in my '31 and it's a simple- to -work on great carb as mentioned in many posts. Parts are scarce and seem a bit pricey. I have a spare with a stuck main jet but may leave that alone and see if it performs without removal. My brief experience is that the gav needle screw is sometimes missing the little tip rubber or leather washer that can cause a leak.
