Default wheel straightening

I'm in the process of straightening the spoke wheels on the '31 using the guide from Durable performance, thanks for the guide, and it does work and is not rocket science.
Instead of using a wrench or hammer handle as a gauge I am using a magnetic dial indicator off of the frame. I am shooting for .030-.040 tolerance.
Is this excessive or am I just being to anal once again?

Well, if you can get it that close that is very admirable however .120" is less than an eighth of an inch, ...which was factory tolerance and anything under .100 would be awesome.

Several years ago I was preparing 12 28-29 wheels for paint. The very best one, no pits anywhere, had a 1/8" wobble. I painted it and put it on the rear of my very plain and very black 29 coupe without a tire just like it came from the factory.

Brent...
Thanks for sharing that bit of info. Where did you find the spec on the factory tolerance? Your reference of 1/8" is the first I have seen.
