License Plate Frames
Old but perhaps not period correct frames can add a bit of historic flavor to an old car. Luckily my interest in old plates dates back to the 1950s. Some even have their old frames. Old as they are the chrome plating may be a bit rough. An odd mix is with restored plates and old frames, however appropriate to the car's history. It has become a bit of an issue. Must be an art thing, mixing the usual over restored plate with the "patina" frame lacks visual harmony. Current point is a California 1940 plate with historically significant, San Jose frames. I can strip the chrome and paint, or use another set of unmolested 1940 plates for a match. Will the pits in the pot metal make the frames ugly? Fred A

Re: License Plate Frames
We have such odd shaped vintage plates in Nebraska I've been using the various telescoping vintage frames. Never found anything else to fit.
