Default T5 transmission/speedometer set-up

I am new to the hobby (two years) and own a 1930 Cabriolet with a Borg Warner T5 transmission with an original Stewart Warner oval speedometer. Rather than go digital, GPS, etc. I want to use the original speedometer. I was considering the use of a Dakota Digital ECD-100 conversion unit to make the adaptation to convert the electronic signal to a mechanical cable drive. An earlier post had one reply suggest that the "A"'s electrical system would interfere with the ECD-100's signal rendering this conversion ineffective or useless. Another reply said that there is a mechanical adaptation that can de done to accomplish this. Any ideas, opinions, suggestions or sources for the mechanical adaptation would be greatly appreciated ! Thank you ! Gary, Middletown, NY [email protected]

Can not the "tail" section of the tranny be changed to give you mechanical hook-up?? You might also ask this same question on the EV8 forum or go over to the "dark side"=HAMB.

If you have the open drive shaft T-5 kit from Automotive Restorations, there is a speedo hookup at the rear axle conversion. Have the correct ends made on a custom cable and your stock speedo will work fine.
