32 ford coupe rumble seat question
On a 32 ford 5 window. The car started out life as a trunk model and then changed to a rumble seat. Now it's going back to a trunk model. Lucky all the trunk hardware was laying loose in the floor.
Question is. The braces were the rumble seat hinges mount. The holes are booged up and I am going to repair them. From the factory were there no holes in these braces for trunk model cars? |

Re: 32 ford coupe rumble seat question
The vertical strainers (braces) were identical for both rumble seat and trunk versions of the '32 standard coupe.

Re: 32 ford coupe rumble seat question
They were originally neither large nor in any shape other than round.

Obviously the outside hole for the rumble lid gets welded shut but does the inside hole stay or should it be filled also. Lucky enough when this was done the previous owner (s) never filled the holes for the trunk handle. Nice thing is that it's all rust free |

Re: 32 ford coupe rumble seat question
Those two holes remain (see photo) and those on the lid for the latch and handle all should be filled, including the slot for the latch tongue and the two holes that bookend the slot to attach the latch.

Re: 32 ford coupe rumble seat question
My coupe was also converted to a rumble seat by a previous owner and I had to put it back to a trunk. You will need this white panel for the lid to latch on to when you put the hinges back on the top.
