Default Install rebuilt 6cyl motor 48 f1

What is the proper way to hook up chains on a rebuilt ford flathead 6? I don't want to use the head bolts might damage gasket and compromise block holes, anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

The Ford manual says to use a lift plate attached with the head bolts. Not sure why you think this would damage the gasket or block holes. Most modern v8s are pulled using the intake manifold carburetor bolts. An engine is not near heavy enough to damage cylinder head bolts or bolt holes.

Did a bunch of them in the old days. Always used the head bolts with no problems.

Watched a guy pulling an engine with a sling that looked to be made of seat belt material. He just wrapped it around, didn't bend or break anything.

That sounds dangerous to me! But, whatever.

Here are a couple of guys on the FTE site installing a 226 in an F-1. Note the load leveler and also note how high you have to get the engine to clear the fenders and radiator. You need a HD hoist with stable legs, or your engine will be on the floor!!
