Default New headlight wiring harnesses

Guys,
The wiring harness on my '38 Deluxe at the bottom of my steering has become frayed and brittle so needs changing.

Some years ago I bought a new one for a model A and it was very poor quality. Does anyone make a good quality replacement for a '38 or should I attempt (if possible) to replace the wires on the original switch plate?

Cheers. Darren.

Edit: was looking at this one. Any good?

What you are looking at is probably as good as any others with the only variables being price and availability.
Whether or not you choose to replace wires is dependent upon your capabilities.

Try Tyree Harris (804) 556-5200. He makes great reproduction wiring harnesses. He is located in Virginia.

be carefull of n.o.s. harnesses as sometimes its hard to make out the wire colors. had this problem on my 39 and had to guess at a few and then start testing circuts.

Not to mention, depending on how old, if the insulation is made of the same original rubber based material, it is is well on it's way to cracking etc.

I have had NOS wiring harnesses and they were not in good shape! They looked good, but the insulation was brittle and would crack when moved. RI wiring also makes harnesses and sells individual wires as well.

I've used the new harnesses from Sacramento Vintage Ford with great luck. They've been making harnesses for years and they are excellent quality with a very fair price.

try Sacramento ford. nice correct color coded cloth harnesses with modern wires. I've not been disappointed. Im sure there are also others that make them well, just don't have experience with them. Never had an issue with the early ford store on other items, wiring i have never ordered wiring from them, so no comment.

The only problem other than color codes I have found on new harnesws's is that they are not soldered where they plug into the switch. You can fix that.
