1934cling, there are many here on the Barn who have done it themselves with PC brand filler or JB weld. Use the search function above to locate earlier posts on this subject. There is a wealth of information.

Here are 5 steering wheels that my dad restored in Woodgrain finish #1 Burl on the outside rim, straight grain mahogany inside, #2 Burl on the outside rim, #3 Maple on the outside rim, Ribbon mahogany on the inside, #4 Butt walnut outside rim and center cap, #5 Burl outside rim, inside mahogany straight grain , Burl center cap, if you have any question on the restored Woodgrain steering wheels, my dad would love to talk to you and answer any question you have, private message me and i will get you in contact with my dad, thanks

I believe a 34 steering wheel is just black. You can "V" out cracks, fill with an epoxy based filler like JB weld or Marine Tex, sand, file or grind it to shape, sand the whole thing, shoot with catalyzed primer, paint with black urethane and if you like, clear urethane as a final coat. I prefer the look of no clear on most things on an old car, especially the paint. I do clear the wood graining I do.

Had these guys recast my Crestliner wheel.
http://qualityrestorations.com/ Took 'em a little while and was not cheap, but it turned out factory new!
