Default Spark advance, GAV

New model A owner. Anyone willing to explain how to use the spark advance and GAV as I drive? Seems like the spark advance should be adjusted as driving conditions change; speed changes, up hill, down hill, under different load conditions,...

I just haven't figured it out. Right now I push the spark lever upmtomstart, pull it down once started but that's about it. Should I be doing more adjustments?

Same question for GAV. How do I adjust and when??

Thanks

The link it to a copy of the owners manual that will explain it all.

Please buy a reprint Owner Handbook.
Even the original first owners had to read up on starting & basic adjustments etc.

I crank the engine with the spark lever all the way up. After cranking I run with the spark advance lever about 3/4 of the way down. I usually start the engine with the GAV 1/2 turn open and then close it to 1/4 turn open after the engine warms up. This seems to work for me.
