Default 1951 F1 5 Star Horns

I am trying to re-assemble the trumpet horns. Is the hole in the center of the back of the horn used to hold one of the wires? Is a screw used there to hold the horn assembly? Cant figure this out. Thanks.

Mine are boxed waiting their day, but these old pics might help. Not the clearest pics with my old cell camera, but here they are. Stu
