There are plastic containers available for a reasonable price at places at Home Depot and Lowe's. I even got one real cheap at Dollar General. If price was no object, I'd fill it with "Evaporust" and wait a couple of days. Unfortunately, that would cost about $18 a gallon. "Rust-911" is a little better, at about $4 per gallon. This is why I am experimenting with citric acid. At one pound per 5 gallons, it comes out to be about $2 per gallon. With a carefully selected (or modified) container, you might be able to get by with 5 or 10 gallons of solution, so the cost would be quite reasonable.

There are a couple of threads on the "H.A.M.B." about this, and most people who have used it say it performs like the more expensive products. We'll see. I love the way the two commercial products work for stuff like this, but they are just too expensive for large jobs. I'll let you know what happens with my wire wheel.

When I restored my 45 truck back in the early 80’s it was either naval jelly or sandblast.
Muratic acid works great on radiators, just don’t let it sit in there too long.
I experimented with Muratic acid when I was a kid working in a radiator shop, put a penny in a glass jar of acid. It was gone in a few minutes!

Yes , muriatic acid used straight on is vicious ! For soaking parts I use approx a 10 /1 mixture w/ frequent checking & possibly some wire brushing . Be careful w/ thin material like auto window frames .
