Default Skip's pumps

I put my new rebuild on the test stand, 8rt with a Mercury crank and heads. DARN, the old pumps were leaking! So, 9 days ago I sent them to Skip. Mailman delivered them today! Always have great service when he does a coil or waterpumps for me. We have some great service guys on the Barn so always thing of them first before buying from the Big Box vendors. John

I agree. Skip did my pumps 6 years ago. All is well. Good turn around too.

" Mercury crank and heads". Any reason for this other than appearance?

tubman, merc crank is 4" stroke. 8rt is 3 3/4" stroke and merc heads usually have more compression

Oh, I had always heard that 8RT and 8CM were about the same, with 8BA's being better and EAB's the best. I would have thought that if changing to non-stock heads, one would want to pick up all the compression they could.

Merc heads give you lower compression compared to 8BA.
Tubman has it figured out...EAB is the way to go with some extra milling.

If Skip would take on or at least manage a shock rebuilding operation the world would be a better place.
Just my opinion
