Default Emergency brake pawl replacement

The A I'm working on away from my house has a thin emerg. brake pawl. I bought a thick one. Can I change out the pawl without removing the floor boards. As I look at my A here at home, It seems like an easy task. As I try and remember the car I'm working, there seems to my weak mind to be something the blocks the removal of the pin?

Not much of a problem. There was some aligning to do. The thicker pawl stays in place. the emrg. brake works fine

Any chance of sharing your source for the thicker pawl? Just how thick is it?

Bratton's sells the thicker pawl. there are 5 versions. The car had a thinner one installed and the pawl would cock off line and miss the teeth.

Thank you.

I have to investigate my E brake handle assembly. It appears (to me) to be very loose, with a fair amount of sideways movement. It does not release well either. I know it's a replacement, because the old rusty one was in the back of the car.

Brian, let us know what you do as mine is very loose also and all the bolts holding it to the engine are tight.

Thanks Tom........

So...What I just learned, was the original emergency brake ratchet was 5/16" (0.3125) thick, and what's in the car is 1/4" (0.250) thick. The same thing with the pawl. I am ordering 5/16" ones.
