What color is this 31 Victoria??
I know this is a tough question to answer without seeing the car in person, but maybe someone knows right off what color green this is? The owner swears it is Kewanne Green, but I don't think so. Kewanee Green, at least to my eyes, is more "olive drabby" looking.
One fellow said maybe it is Brewster Green Medium (the MAFCA paint guide only shows the dark Brewster Green). Anyone have a picture of Brewster Green Medium paint job on a Model A? P.S. The headlights have been adjusted so they are not pointing downward! |

Re: What color is this 31 Victoria??
To narrow my question a little, what does Brewster Green Medium look like? Any examples out there? I ask this because the green on my car looks nothing like the Brewster Green paint chip in the MAFCA paint guide.

Those wheels make me want to chase them under the porch and kill em with a stick.

Re: What color is this 31 Victoria??
Yeah I know the wheels are ugly! This is an early 1990's restoration, which apart from the wheels, was very well done. For the time being I am going to put a set of black wheels on the car and will ultimately powdercoat the wheels with the correct Apple Green. Or maybe just leave the wheels black, I dunno.
The reason I ask this question about the color green ON THE BODY (not asking about the wheels, but happy to let everyone take a poke at them) is because the Judging Standards (Page 14-7) only lists a Brewster Green for the 190-A which is very dark. The MAFCA/MARC Paint Guide only shows a Brewster Green which is very dark. The DeAngelis book "The Ford Model A as Henry Built It" shows Brewster Green MEDIUM as an exterior color option for the 190-A. I know I will get comments that the color MUST comply with the Judging Standards but am not going to repaint the car anytime soon. I see this color on a lot of 30-31's so thought someone would know if it is the "Medium" version of Brewster Green. So, all I was asking was if anybody was familiar with "Brewster Green Medium" color. I am having some mixed up by an authoritative source so will let you guys know so we will all be edified. |

Greg
The PPG Antique Ford Repaint Manual lists Brewster Green Medium as a 1932 color.

Re: What color is this 31 Victoria??
thank you Bill.
Black wheels sound good as would straw wheels to offset the brewster. |

Another case of subject drift………. C’mon folks he didn’t ask for criticism or your opinion. Again, thank you Bill Ciker, you’re a big help. Thanks for helping me a few weeks ago. |

Re: What color is this 31 Victoria??
Sorry, I shouldn't have given my opinion on the wheels. It really is a beautiful car. Its really difficult to identify accuracy etc of color via a computer. Depending on monitor/camera/lighting etc it is not an accurate representation that I am looking at, quite likely. Even the wheel color probably looks a lot different in real life. Many digital cameras run the image through processing to enhance the original image. Enhancement is actually distortion. So, basically I should've kept my mouth shut, I'm not seeing it like it truly looks.
Probably close to the color of my A, see avatar pic. Mine was painted in the 50's so the paint is definitely showing its age and in places where its chipped I can see the original paint underneath and its a little different shade. If you find the original paint code for this color post it, I plan to someday repaint mine. The tan top really looks good with the green/black.

Re: What color is this 31 Victoria??
Paint color variants are common for a number of reasons, look at the wide disparity in Chicle/Copra colors out there.
Whatever this green is, it looks good. Black wheels will improve the appearance here a lot, as will blackwall tires. Now for more subject drift: the original color of the top fabric on these leatherback Vickies does NOT go well with most paint colors, including this one. (J.M.H.O.) Have often wondered why nobody has restored one of these with black top fabric, ignoring the Judging Standards.

Quote:
What some are saying is; the light green wheels and white walls shift the color as seen on the screen and how some see the body color, along with the car being in partial shade.
