1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
Here are some shots of a very nice original Briggs Town Sedan that I saw at our club's show and swap a couple years ago. This is the kind of car I'd like to own.

Tom ,
That sure is a very nice original . My interior has traces of looking just like that one long ago . I would be very satisfied if it looked that good . |

Tom, not sure how original my '30 Briggs is but it certainly is comfy.
I like the 'assist strap' in the '29 (your photo#2). Last edited by Y-Blockhead; 01-06-2015 at 12:00 PM. |

Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
Keith, Sorry. I don't know where or who did them. They were in the car when I bought it.
I WILL ask the guy I bought the car from next time I see him for you and let you know. I have a few other questions I need to ask him also. |

Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
I noticed in my first picture the dome lamp switch appears to be a TOGGLE switch.
Did the 29 have a toggle switch, then the 30-1 change to a SLIDE switch? |

Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
My recently acquired '29 Briggs TS had a toggle switch that did not work. Previous owner indicated it was OE. The car had been in his family since 1933. Have replaced it with a working slide switch until I can locate original type or repair existing toggle switch. The switch escutcheon plate is also different on the '29 from 30/31.

My '29 Murray was an unrestored original when I bought it. The original slide switch remains in good working order.

Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
Hello together,
as a newby I would like to introduce our "lady" as we bought her one year ago in netherlands. It´s a Murray body with a lot of robertson screws and as far as I know, assembled in Canada and imported from Canada 15 yrs ago. Interior seems to be authentic to me, as far as I can judge. best regards from germany Gerald |

Very very nice, enjoy her.
As you can see my '31 Murray is not quite there yet...but getting closer by the day. Drove it yesterday around the block (twice), first time it's moved under its own power in 55 years.

I don't understand how back in the day mohair was considered the luxury interior. I think it is hot, itchy, and impossible to keep looking nice and uniform. I much prefer the checked cloth of the standard interior.

Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
Thank you, burner31!
We enjoy her the whole summer and she runs 60 mph :-)! But what I really would like to change is the interior brightwork. The only buttler finish part is the slide light switch, anything else is glossy nickel or chrome plating. I never found a source of buttler finish brightwork replacement parts. Does anybody know? Other possibility to match the parts better seems to carefully glass bubble blast the existing parts until the surface looses its glossy finish. Any experience or idea? Here is an original interior showing what your car once looked like (with proper rear seat).

Re: 1929 Briggs Town Sedan Interior Pictures
Wow, like the pictures. Thanks
Now why can't we buy the interior in sections? Why can't I just get the front seat upholstery, rear seat and door panels as we need them, seems we have to get the entire outfit for two grand and up. Anyone know where to get JUST the front seat, JUST the back seat, JUST the door panels, JUST the headliner?

Unfortunately, anything you purchase at different times has a strong likelihood of not matching in color due to different fabric lots. It would be much like buying paint by the pint once a year as you have a couple of doors ready for paint this year, and next year....
