Default My alternator has gained a lot of weight

I decided it would be prudent if I pulled the intake off of my engine just to make certain that I did not drop a washer into the intake when I removed my carburetor. I pulled the alternator first of course. That thing must have trippled its weight since I put it on a few years ago. Couldn't be that I have aged that much. LOL

I now have all of the bolts one side of the intake out and gave it up for the day. Maybe I can get it off tomorrow and be sure there is nothing in the intake or valley. The aluminum intake might have turned to cast iron in that same period of time. LOL

This job is certainly not just "tinkering" with the truck. LOL I need someone to do the heavy lifting.

If the alternator gained that much weight, you may need a hoist to remove the manifold!!!!
Don't we have fun working on these machines?

Lawson, you probably know this but I smear greese on both side of the intake gasket, that way you can remove it a few times without hurting the gasket. Walt

Yes, I use nothing but grease on my gaskets.

Aren't you supposed to slather grease on all 4 surfaces for good measure? 8^)

Probably only those who have transitioned from the elderly to the geezerly stage in life can appreciate what this is all about. 8^)
