Re: 1933/1934 fords
This is interesting to me. The pictured body tag 710-LB-4758 is the one on my ’34 roadster. It’s build date is January, 1934 per the serial number on the frame and clutch cover. I believe that the car was assembled in Europe because it came from a European car museum and the serial number has a 40 prefix. It has several other peculiarities.

Re: 1933/1934 fords
Does your car have the Euro tag on the vertical face of the firewall below that tag? In France the the 33-34 Fords had the designation V8-40 and that is what's stamped on that other tag.See pic. In '32 they were V8-18, for the V8.

Re: 1933/1934 fords
No record survives as to when individual vehicles were assembled. What does survive is a record of when the engine/transmission assembly was manufactured. Accordingly, your vehicle build date could range from two weeks for domestic production to two or more months if the vehicle was assembled outside of North America given the pace of ocean freighters of the period. (At that time, V8 engines were only produced in Dearborn and across the Detroit River in Walkerville, Ontario.)

Re: 1933/1934 fords
Does your '34 have 2 brake rods (if you still have mechanical brakes) to each of the rear backing plates?

Re: 1933/1934 fords
Yes, the car has 2 brake rods for each back wheel. There is an interesting this thread on this subject headed “1934 brake system” dated 09/20/210.

Re: 1933/1934 fords
Then TMK its German or French origin. Those countries required that the e brake had its own dedicated brake rod.

That would make it likely that the headlights, horns, and words on the control knobs and the gauges would be unique unless later replaced once in the States.

Re: 1933/1934 fords
Are those the proper headlight lenses that a European ford would have?

Re: 1933/1934 fords
French Fords of the period were equipped with Marchal lamps which those appear to be. Their horns were unique as well. The lamps and often the horn differed by country elsewhere in Europe.

Re: 1933/1934 fords
They (the Marchal lamps) sure are sexy and If I ever owned an early Ford from Ford of France I would move heaven and earth to replace the original lamps if they were missing.
