Need a new exhaust pipe and muffler anyone make one that is not welded together? Over size shipping to Japan is expensive.

Re: Un welded exhaust pipe and muffler
I had one sent to Australia by Sammy Guthrie at Arizona Model A. I asked him to put a piece of masking tape around the pipe just behind the muffler and put a longitudinal pen line on it, then cut the pipe off through the tape. When it arrived, I could line things up again to weld it back together. It worked a treat. I see no reason the same couldn't be done with the engine pipe and have it shipped in 3 pieces. (I'll give you Sammy's email contact if you like - just PM me)

Re: Un welded exhaust pipe and muffler
When I talked to Aires a while back, they would send theirs in pieces. I ordered mine that way.

we can ship the muffler in 3 pieces, you weld. I can ship by postal express, much cheaper than UPS or FedEx. |

Re: Un welded exhaust pipe and muffler
Boston Bruce:
I have a woody. I bought an Aires stainless steel muffler maybe two years ago. You cannot get it on the frame without either raising the body or preferably lowering the entire rear end to allow it to be installed. You will also need the extension pipe that Aires also sells for the woodies. The extension is not stainless steel so you will need to cut and fit the two pieces together. Vic |
