Is the Mallory a model YC or model YL ? Pertonixs makes a conversion for both units and works very well. Will work with the 12 volt 1.5-4.0 ohm coils . MUST has ressitance and can not use a low ohm ( below one).
We do quite a few of these units each week.

I tried it on a Mallory Double Life YC model, I never got the engine to run! I tried everything Pertronix suggested and was on the phone with them 4 or 5 times, I gave up and put new points in it, runs fine.

Although we do use the pertronixs modules in various forms we dont use the coils. We have our own coil made for us in Indiana.........USA .
We offer three coils
1=low ohm ( .5 ohm) for electronic high energy needs
2- 1.5 ohm factory replacement coil
3-3-4 ohm coil for dual coils and hot rods with no resistor....
