Busted Banlo
Should say BANJO
Not talking about the duelling kind! My friends 30 has a bad crack across the top front of the banjo just behind the driveshaft. I have never seen this happen and can't figure out why! I am looking for a replacement near central Florida. backing plates and drums not important. It's been converted to hydraulics (ugh). Help!

Re: Busted Banlo
Advertise on "Craigs List" or go to the top of this page and click on "Swap Meet" and scroll down to "Parts Wanted" then, "Model A".....when you find one be sure it is 100% round where the axle housings bolt onto it as many have been ruined by people not supporting the banjo when pressing out the double cone bearing. Ford re-designed the later ones with a support which the early ones do not have.....MIke

Re: Busted Banlo
Is it one of the 1928 banjos without the support gussets?

Re: Busted Banlo
I've seen a few cracked, even with the gusset.
Good luck on finding a good one, but you might try Bert's. |

If you can say, how the heck did the banjo/center section get destroyed ? I'm curious, as when , decades ago, I bought my project A , the pinion and ring gear BOTH had teeth (multiple) knocked off each...but banjo was not injured somehow. Never figured that one out either. Chalked it up to maybe curb hopping ? |

Re: Busted Banlo
I wish I knew how it happened. I am sure the present owner never pulled a stump with it! LOL. I suspect it was like that for a long time. Having the engine out and the transmission pulling forward on the torque tube made it separate enough to see it. It has a history of leaking on the garage floor. The owner had he car greased, oil change etc on a regular schedule at an independent garage. They just topped it off each time it came in.
Now i get to learn how to set one of these things up!
