Free Marvel carburetor anyone?
OK, I've done it this time! A while back a picked up a half dozen Marvel carburetors on E-bay with the intention or rebuilding a couple of good one by combining the best parts of the 6. Reasonable right? Well, I am checking through E-bay as I do to see if any interesting stuff turns up. There was a posting for a parts lot for Marvel carburetors. I figured I could always use a few extra parts. I put in the minimum bid, and won. So today I get this big heavy box in the mail.
BELOW IS WHAT I GOT!!! Luckily I opened the box down in my workshop, so my wife did not see. she thought I was nuts when the first six arrived. If she saw this load she would have me committed! If anyone would like a Marvel carburetor as a core to rebuild, or as parts, pm me and you can have one for free except for the cost of mailing it to you. |

Would love to take up your offer but freight to the land down under would be a killer! Pity!

That is indeed. Very kind of you! Hopefully they go to people that can use them and no resellers! I gave away several trophies last year only to see them advertised on EBay a month later. Wayne

Re: Free Marvel carburetor anyone?
Boy the word FREE sure does generate a lot of response! I think I have answered all the PMs. But just so everyone else knows: Note that none of these carbs are 100% complete. For example most have had the GAV assembly removed and some are missing the float. That is why they were advertised as a parts lot not as Marvel carbs. (And why I got them so cheap!)

Re: Free Marvel carburetor anyone?
I run a Wheeler-Schebler carby - it has the remnants of a sticker that says that - so mine was presumably before the name change to Marvel Schebler in 1928. Simple design, runs good - just getting the gaskets for a spares supply was a tad onerous - but they are sourced now.
I also ended up with a job lot of Zenith carb bodies that needed a lot of love and I am planning to get a couple of re-lifed carbys out of them in the future. |
