Default First Snow

We had our first real snow fall last night. Maybe 4 to 5 inches of light snow. It was in the 20s and dry enough I thought I'd take the Merc out for a spin. The usual priming of the carburetor was all it took to start up. Piece of cardboard to cover up the radiator soon had the temp up to normal (and above). The old bald p235x70 radials spin pretty easy in the snow but I got around ok. Got a few pictures and some video of course.

Ah, come on, Ralph. You didn't take a picture, you painted that scene.

Video still in the camera but I might get it edited and uploaded this evening. Snow here is like death and taxes. Unavoidable so you learn to live with it. (Or move South for the winter).
The old flathead warmed up really well with cardboard over the radiator but unfortunately I've had to disconnect the heater core (leaks). Therefore have to run with a window open so it does not fog up on the inside of the glass.. But it was only 20 degrees and that is not considered cold here.

If it snowed 4 to 5 inches here, the whole state would be shut down..

Ralph, is that pickup being abused on the left side of your garage/barn? Looks like it might be a Ford??

That is the M68 Mercury truck patiently waiting for me to get the motor to turn over. Its on one of my youtube videos. I'm hoping to make one of it running some day.

Or a scrap lumber lean-to on that side of the barn. I wish I lived closer, I have lots of lumber and old corrugated roofing. I lived and worked in Maine in 1976-7, and love your pictures and videos.

Well, after 15 years of no snow, I'm going to find out what a Minnesota winter is like again. While our condo in Marathon was not damaged by Hurricane Irma, the elevators and A/C condensers were totally knocked out. Given the amount of damage in the Keys and the scarcity of good help, they can't even give me an estimate on then they can get the repairs started; hell, the insurance adjuster hasn't even been there yet.

I am working on upgrading the heat in my shop, so maybe I can spend the winter doing something more rewarding than fishing, sitting in the sun, and drinking Pina Coladas.

Or maybe kick those two old GMCs out of the lean to on the other side of the shed? I'm seriously getting short on space here. Theres a 9430 GMC back in the bush I'd like to get indoors as well. And that 38 Pontiac, well its on the list. 'd like to at least get it home and parked beside the 38 Ford parts car.
