Emergency cross shaft questions.
Hi folks , I just pulled out the emergency cross shaft. Its the 1928-to early30 type. I am confused about somethings, maybe you can help.
1. There are two holes for the main rod to connect to on the cross shaft lever. Why two holes and which one is right for a Tudor? 2. Do the brass bushings rotate on the shaft as well in the bracket supports? My bushings don't seem to want to come off the shaft by hand. Should they? It wouldn't surpise me if someone previous used JB Weld. 3. My bracket supports have no woven lining in them but the bushings are not really that loose in them. The Snyder's picture of their bracket support looks like it has a lining in the hole. 4. I can't figure out why there is another hole on the frame, centered between the two bracket mount holes. Am I missing something on the cross shaft? I have a felt, bushing, spring and bracket suppport. Thanks !!! |

My bushings don't seem to want to come off the shaft by hand. Should they? Yes It wouldn't surpise me if someone previous used JB Weld. 3. Not aware of any lining inside the hole. See if you can obtain a Bratton’s catalog as it shows a good picture of how the parts are assembled. 4. I can't figure out why there is another hole on the frame, centered between the two bracket mount holes. Am I missing something on the cross shaft? I have a felt, bushing, spring and bracket suppport. Thanks !!! The center hole is for a lubrication fitting A24407 5/16 70 degree angle. |
