Default Is there still a market for a V8-60 race cam?

Curious, is there are market for a V8-60 race cam? Reason I ask is we had a very nice V8-60 core for sale at Hershey. It was picked up and put down all day, but no takers.

I'm thinking of having it sent out to be reground to a race grind. Is there still a market for these cams?

I had two V8 60 race cams on my table with nos bearings, rods etc. No takers on anything. A vender one row over had two sixty motors one full race another complete but stock, again no takers even though the price was reasonable. He stopped to see if I was selling anything because nobody was even stopping to look.

Ugh. OK, thanks. I was kind of thinking along the same as you've experiences. I really hate to scrap it. Crazy.

About the only market left is either vintage race boats or vintage midgets.
There is only one grind that will perform adequately in either of these categories also and that is the 404jr. It is a radius lifter grind and is VERY expensive to do and install.

If you want to know about vintage race boats, read all of Rich Willim's stuff.

For vintage midgets, there isn't very much reliable stuff to read.
They CAN and have many times been made to beat Offy midgets easily but it ain't cheap.

I have a 404jr in my 60 race cam collection. I also have a 60 cam with no markings but a lot of lift compared to any others I have seen.

If ya ever need the 404jr cleaned up and Larry can't do it, I can. I can furnish lifters also.

Thanks, all. Looks like I'll be making door handles out of this cam core.

They make very nice lamps.

Here is a pic of one. Not a flathead Ford but the cam can be anything. Crankshafts, distributors, connecting rods and stacked pistons can be used also.

The lamp looks okay, but that shade, I am not so sure.

I didn't build that one. The one I did, I used an early 20's stained glass oil lamp shade.

That sounds like a much better choice.

The one I did I used a V12 Allison core because it is hollow. I didn't have to drill it.
