Zenith carb question
I got a carb. kit for my Zenith-3 carburetor. All parts fit as they should with the exception on the GAV needle. The one that came in the kit was slightly longer (from the threads to the end of the needle) and would not thread into the sleeve. Anyone know what might be an explanation for this other than it was the wrong part? In looking at Zenith carb. kits I see no mention of any differences.

Re: Zenith carb question
Where did you buy your carb rebuild kit? Can you simply reuse your old GAV needle? In my experience, most aftermarket Zenith jets are drilled a bit large, resulting in a rich mixture of air and fuel. These aftermarket jets can be flow tested for accurate fuel delivery and resized. It's a pretty technical process. Renners Corner sells flow tested jets for our Zenith carburetors.

Re: Zenith carb question
It sounds like the needle is not assembled into the outer sleeve, I can't tell. If it is, unthread it or back it out and it will be shorter. Compare the take out parts and figure what is wrong. Nothing wrong with using the old part or parts.

Re: Zenith carb question
Have you got the needle pushed past the small steel tension ring at the end of the housing?
If not, use a drop of oil and give it a good push. |
