Default 1932 3 Window Dash Hardware Question

Looking for some help on what the fasteners and/or clips? cage nuts? or whatever is supposed to retain the dash at the bottom of the windshield frame flange on the '32 3-windows. There are 7 recesses in the cowl area of the body (see pic) that line up with the dash holes (the screws go in from the windshield side).

When I removed the dash, mine was held in place with wood screws threaded into a small pieces of 18 gauge sheet metal that sandwiched the dash to the flange (see pic below). I'm pretty sure this wasn't Henry's design...but would like to know what type of fastener/clip or whatever is supposed to be there. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Boxcar Tom...that is very helpful. What holds them in place before the screw through the dash goes through it? Is there a spring clip or something? Or do they literally need to be held up by hand (or tape?) while feeding the dash screw into them?

You assemble the clips and their screws into the holes in the dash (loosely) and line the screws up with the slots in the cowl top with the clips on the inside and the lip of the dash and the head of the screws on the outside of the raised area on the cowl top. The length of the clips will prevent them from rotating when tightening the screws.

In addition to David's comments I would add, there are tabs on the interior on each side of each slot, the tabs stick out toward the back of the body. Those tabs will help position the clips and limit rotation.

I would also like to add that it is near impossible to stick your fingers up there or any tool for that matter to hold the clips while the dash is in place.

Thanks guys...makes sense. And Tom, your comment about limited access is exactly right! That's why I figured there had to be a clip, or as it turns out a procedure to make them work. I really appreciate the responses.

Just to be clear, I do not have any 1932 Ford 3W dash clips. The pictures I posted were from a 2008 EBAY auction that I did not win. I kept the pictures so I would know what to look for. It’s a coincidence, I saw the thread and since I’m working on my 3W dash I had the pics open on my computer for reference since I'm going to fabricate my own clips. They are out of sight so they don’t have to 100% match the originals.

That's my solution too! Your quick access to the old photo was perfect.

Since we're yapping about internal 3W body parts. See the attached pictures, they are also from an EBAY auction from 2008 from the same seller as the clips. The two pieces in the bottom of the pictures are attached to the rear window framing uprights, they hold the rear window channel in place. The other two pieces in the pictures look familiar but I just can't figure out what they are. Anybody know what they are? Possibly rear window stop brackets? Just thought I'd ask.
