Default Front Motor Mount

Im getting ready to replace an org. type front motor mount set in my 31, springs, bushings etc. I've been told that all I half to do is jack up the frt. of the eng. aprox. 1-2 in. is their any thing else I should do or look out for? Should I disc. the exhaust pipe from the manifold?
Any suggestions before I mess something up. Thank you.

Loosen the rear motor mount bolts that screw into the flywheel housing. Watch the throttle linkage between the rear of the block and the firewall.
