Garage sale and Model A wheel....
Not what you are going to expect...
For a couple of years I had my eyes on a hose reel at a house. It is a 19" Model A rim with a hub cap in the center. I had my eyes on the hub cap in particular cause it was still shiny so I had hopes. Well today I was out for a bike ride and the people who owned the house (and bought it with the wheel in place) were having a garage sale. Opportunity knocks- So I quickly got them engaged by telling them what they had so we walked back to look at it. The rim was well pitted on the inside and the would have needed some work for pitting on the visible areas. The hub cap was beat up some and well-- a repro. So much for scoring a nice original hub cap as I had hoped. They now know what their hose reel is and we had a good laugh about it. |
