Default U joint inspection

First of all Henry Ford is my pick for Top American Industrialist and I think history probably proves me right. But I wish Henry and his group would have made the u joint in Model A's a little easier to inspect. I am narrowing down a bad vibration at higher speeds of my 29 that I am thinking is coming from the u joint. If I get up to speed and push in on the clutch it goes away. If I rev the engine while stopped and in neutral there is not much vibration. Any ideas other than going through the process of removing the rear end to get to the u joint. And also how prone are the u joints to wearing out. Thanks, Joe B.

Better get that U-joint out of there. We had the same problem with one on a trip to Dearborn in 03. Liked to have lost that one. Same symptoms exactly.

Yes it is not just a noise it is like the whole car is going to shake apart. But if I push in on the clutch it goes away. Does that sound like the u joint.

The inner ball cap over U-joint isnt missing by any chance? One time I replaced the rear end gears in a friends A & found the ball cap missing. He had been driving it that way for about 20 years & wondered why it vibrated so much over 35 mph.The drive shaft also pushed the main shaft forward, breaking the cast-in bearing stop in the trans case.
