Default Horn rod again

Third time's the charm. Apparently pdf's cannot be attached to these posts, so see the sketch now. The attached photos show the four pieces to be used, but the instructions are seriously lacking in adequate detail. The instructions do not acknowledge the existence of a brass tip already attached to the wire. As I studied the components, I drew the attached sketch and need to know if this is correct. Even if it is, in the lower left corner the instructions say to cut flush after solder. What is to be cut? Should i assume that upon completion the lower terminal cup and lower brass cup are in constant electrical contact ? It would appear that the purpose of the horn button is to short the upper brass contact to the horn rod. Is that correct?

Once the brass cup is soldered to the bottom end of the wire, simply file the solder flat so you have a wide contact point with the spring loaded horn contact in the middle of the wiring harness contact plate.

Hey Russel, I wimped out and bought a new horn rod. Works great. I saved the old on a and my rebuild it some day. The tip of my old one is chewed up and shorted out when I installed the light switch.
Grant up in good old Essex, not Junction, by golly

In mine, the rod itself is good, but it needs a new horn button and new wire kit--I bought all those several months ago, and just determined that my neighbor is able to solder the tip. Need to get the rod installed so I can finish putting the roof on the huckster. No city slickers in your neighborhood.
