Just trying to figure what these hood sides fit. They look like 33 34 ford car but the back bottom doesn't round like the other ones I seen. Thanks for any help.

Maybe, someone on the AACA Forum, (forms.aaca.org) could identify them.

Re: are these 34 ford hood sides or?
Here's my Dad's '32 Ply 2DR and I had a '32 4DR in the '50's. The hood is hinged in the center and each half was is a hinged 2-piece. The bottom edges are relatively straight-flat, and each side had a locking twist handle at the bottom edge. When folded open/up, the arrangement provided lots of working space.
Loved that car. Had a big bore 4 cyl, up-draft carb, nice tranny ratios and lots of torque. Milled the head and added two pipes .... In-tune, could stay with any early stock '50's flat head off the line for two city blocks. Last edited by Drbrown; 09-20-2015 at 11:02 PM. |

Could be '33 '34 Plymouth. There were a few different models in each year & in '34 there were different style louvres between the models. I had a '34 with sides just like those pictured.

Re: are these 34 ford hood sides or?
It is '33 Plymouth PC. Somebody gave me a full PC hood years ago thinking it was a Ford hood. Darned if I can remember who gave it to me, but regardless, I sold it to Tom Rootlieb who used it to pattern Dodge/Plymouth hoods. There was much marketing confusion in '33, Plymouth had a PC, PCXX, and there was a PD. PC and PCXX had 107" wheelbases as compared to the PD's 112". The extra length in the wheelbase is from the firewall forward requiring two different hoods for '33's.

It seems that there are 2 different Hoods on 1933 Plymouths? On one model, the rear louvre is at an angle, however, I did see this picture of a 33 Plymouth which has a similar looking hood to the ones pictured.

Here is a bigger picture of that 1933 Plymouth with the hood that looks like the one in question. |
